DNV launches ESV notation for HIL testing

DNV launches the Enhanced System Verification (ESV) notation to establish a class framework for HIL testing of complex computer-based control systems and critical onboard systems. This is a voluntarily class notation that will be put into effect from 01 January 2010. The ESV notation defines requirements for HIL testing of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems and Thruster Assisted Mooring systems. The ESV-DP[HIL] class notation is aligned with the requirements of major oil companies for additional testing.

This new ESV notation is based on the current Standard for Certification (SfC) for HIL testing.
